Table Lamp Model 12297 'Scrittoio' in Brass by Angelo Lelii for Arredoluce, Italy 1950s

$6,750
Description

Table lamp designed by Angelo Lelii for Arredoluce, produced in Italy during the 1950s. The lamp is constructed from brass and an off-white white lacquered aluminum shade and counterweight. Its structure includes a tubular brass frame that curves into a circular form to create a stable base. The frame supports a directional lampshade made from the same lacquered aluminum. The shade is adjustable and can be tilted in multiple directions, allowing focused or ambient lighting depending on placement. The design is based on mechanical functionality and geometric construction, typical of mid-century Italian lighting. The materials—aluminum and brass—were commonly used by Arredoluce in this period for their durability and industrial fabrication compatibility. The lamp reflects the manufacturer's focus on combining practical features with material economy.

Angelo Lelii was an Italian designer and founder of Arredoluce, a lighting company established in Monza in 1943. He is known for pioneering modern lighting designs that combined industrial materials with mechanical innovation. Lelii’s work often incorporated adjustable arms, modular structures, and integrated switches. Arredoluce became one of the leading Italian lighting firms of the postwar period, alongside Stilnovo and Arteluce. The company collaborated with designers such as Gio Ponti, Ettore Sottsass and Franco Albini.

Condition: Overall this table lamp shows age related user marks visible to the stem, base and shade. The stem shows patina and the shade some small discolouration.
