Senior Merchandising Manager

We pride ourselves on our curation, discovery, and customer-centric approach, catering primarily to Gen Z and Millennial audiences. We are looking for a forward-thinking Head of Merchandising to join our team and lead our merchandising strategy.
The Head of Merchandising will be responsible for developing and executing the merchandising and pricing strategy for our design and home goods products. This role requires a deep understanding of Gen Z and Millennial buying patterns, trends in the design and home goods market, and a passion for building something new. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can both strategize and execute, driving growth and innovation in our product offerings.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
Strategic Planning:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive merchandising strategy that aligns with the company’s vision and targets Gen Z and Millennial consumers.
- Conduct market research to identify trends, competitive landscape, and consumer preferences.
- Define product assortment, pricing strategies, and promotional plans to maximize sales and profitability.
Product Development:
- Collaborate with the design and product development teams to create products that meet market demands and exceed customer expectations.
- Oversee the entire product lifecycle from concept to launch, ensuring timely delivery and quality standards.
- Lead innovation in product offerings, ensuring a steady pipeline of new and exciting products.
Buying and Inventory Management:
- Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure a diverse and high-quality product range.
- Manage inventory levels to balance product availability with cost efficiency.
- Analyze sales data and inventory performance to make informed purchasing decisions and optimize stock levels.
Marketing and Sales Collaboration:
- Work closely with the marketing team to develop compelling merchandising campaigns and promotional activities.
- Provide input on visual merchandising, in-store displays, and online presentation to enhance customer engagement and drive sales.
- Support sales teams with product knowledge and merchandising insights to improve sales performance.
Team Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing merchandising team.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture, encouraging creative problem-solving and continuous improvement.
- Set clear goals and performance metrics, providing regular feedback and development opportunities.
WE’RE IDEALLY SEEKING
- Bachelor’s degree in Merchandising, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in merchandising, with a strong background in the design and home goods sector.
- Proven track record of successfully targeting and engaging Gen Z and Millennial consumers.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret market and sales data.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Creative thinker with a passion for innovation and a keen eye for design.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficient in merchandising software and tools, with strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.

Senior Partnerships Manager
Los Angeles or New York City
Team: Partnerships
The role of Senior Partnerships Manager directly reports to our Head of Partnerships, and manages both new and pre-existing partners to bring our collaborations to life. In this role, you will be mainly responsible for finding and pitching top-tier partners for the platform, which align with our vision and ethos. You will manage full execution of the collaborations, with coordination support from the Partnerships team, and will be expected to align with other departments (Marketing, Logistics) to ensure the best possible outcome.
Collaborations include, but are not limited to: collections launched via Experience videos, longer-term partnerships with talent and brands, IRL events and activations, and support with production of goods. Experience in artist management or production (either creative production, event management, or manufacturing) is strongly preferred.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Focus on recruiting, managing, and growing the seller communities of the many existing and upcoming Basic.Space product categories
- Build and pursue a pipeline of sellers
- Manage ongoing relationships and day-to-day communications with strategic sellers in your category
- Educate and support sellers to ensure the success and growth of their businesses on Basic.Space
- Stay close to sellers and buyers in the ecosystem to understand user needs and provide the engineering team with key user insights and problems to solve
- Start-to-finish execution of partnerships with top-tier sellers
- Finding and pitching new partners & overtaking select ongoing seller conversations and executing follow-thru
- Devising timelines for production & launch
- Gathering deliverables from sellers
- Coordinating with production partners efficiently and according to timeline
- Coordinating with seller partners to update and accommodate their needs
- Aligning across teams for successful roll-outs
- Providing Insight and Metrics
- Providing weekly and monthly recaps of talent outreach and status of communication
- Providing insight to the greater team on the success of recent partnerships
- Ability to advise on partnership needs and continued improvement
- Coordination for on-going partnerships
- Working directly with Head of Partnerships for the coordination of larger-scale partnerships, seller outreach, and seller support
- Working with Partnership Coordinators to guide their outreach, assist on seller comms, timelines, and scheduling wherever necessary
WE’RE IDEALLY SEEKING
- You have 5+ years of experience working in a business development / partner-facing role
- You have relationships and previous experience with luxury designers, specifically in design, furniture and art
- You have experience building and executing against a pipeline of targets
- You are scrappy and flexible enough to work in a fast-paced startup environment with limited guidance, and are comfortable pivoting quickly as needed
- You are a strategic and creative thinker who can turn research and data into actionable plans
- An existing network of sellers, creators, and influencers within Basic.Space product categories
- Passion for creator communities and/or existing Basic.Space product categories
- Experience buying and selling in online marketplaces
Internship
Los Angeles or New York City
Team: Marketing, Partnerships, Operations, Product
At Basic.Space we take pride in nurturing forward-thinking and innovative people. The ideal intern has a strong work ethic and willingness to learn. You will be supporting members across marketing, partnerships, operations, and product teams throughout your internship giving you the opportunity to explore what you’re passionate about. As a minimum 3-month internship, you will have ample room to grow and take on projects. The tight-knit team at Basic.Space allows you to collaborate with people of all levels. We encourage high-level learning, not only from top-down but from down-up; we want you to share and teach us as much as we teach you! Most importantly, we are looking for someone with the right cultural fit and growth mindset.

- Support team members per assigned departments

This internship requires you to be located in LA or NYC to work in-office with our team, 2-3 days a week, 16 - 24 hours per week commitment.
Please note this is an internship for current college students with a minimum of 16 hours per week, or more where applicable, to comply with your school’s credit requirements.
