Adjustable 'BA-5473' Table Lamp in Chrome by Josep Maria Magem for Madom, Spain, 1970S
- Description
-
The BA-5473 table lamp was designed by Josep Maria Magem and produced by Madom in Spain during the 1970s. Usually found in a colored version, this one is a rare unusual version in chrome plated steel, it consists of an extremely heavy and solid base, an adjustable U-Shaped vertical stem, and a movable shade. The stem can be raised, lowered, or angled to create multiple light positions, and the shade can be repositioned along the stem to modify height and direction. During the 1970s, Spanish industrial design expanded alongside broader European developments in lighting and furniture production, with manufacturers such as Madom Design focusing on metal fabrication and serial production. Josep Maria Magem worked within this context, contributing designs that reflect the material and technical approaches present in Spain at the time.
Condition
The base, stem and shade are in good condition showing small signs of age and use. If preferred the chrome can be polished a bit further. The adjustable functions are in working order showing some signs of use.
