- Description
-
Model ""555 T"" articulated floor lamp designed by Oscar Torlasco for Lumi, Italy, circa 1960. The lamp is made of brass and lacquered metal, with a red shade and base, a brass stem, and black details including the cap that holds the lens. The glass lens is built into the shade and functions as a diffuser. The fixture features an articulated arm, and both the height and angle of the shade are adjustable. The materials and construction reflect Italian production standards of the 1960s. The lamp is designed to provide directional light and adapt to various interior arrangements.
Oscar Torlasco was an Italian designer active in the mid-20th century, known for his lighting designs for Lumi, a Milan-based manufacturer. His work frequently combined metal structures with optical components such as lenses. Torlasco designed both functional and decorative pieces, often incorporating adjustable features. His designs were distributed internationally and contributed to the visibility of Italian lighting design during the postwar period.
Condition: Overall this floor lamp shows age related user marks visible to the frame, base and shade. Some lacquered parts miss minor paint chips, the brass shows a subtle patina.
