Floor Lamp with Reversible Shade by Niek Hiemstra for Hiemstra Evolux, The Netherlands 1960s
- Description
-
The Niek Hiemstra for Evolux Floor Lamp, designed in the 1960s, combines minimalist design with functional versatility. The lamp features a metal stem and base, supporting a unique, reversible shade made from aluminum and white acrylic. The clever design allows the shade to be flipped, offering two different lighting effects—one side providing a soft, diffused light, while the other creates a more focused beam. This adaptability, paired with the sleek, modern silhouette, makes the lamp not only a practical lighting solution but also a striking design piece and a progressive design for it's time period.
Niek Hiemstra was the founder of Hiemstra Evolux, which stands for 'Evolution in Lighting' , where he helped shape the brand's reputation for creating high-quality, innovative lighting. His designs emphasized clean lines, thoughtful use of materials, and the integration of form with function, embodying the progressive design trends of the 1960s.
Condition: Legs and stem with age related wear such as minor sratches. Shade with a minor flaw, Nickel plated parts with a green oxidised patina which adds character to the lamp
