This floor lamp by Stilux Milano, produced in the 1950s–60s, reflects Italian mid-century design with a focus on function and material use. The lamp features a white marble base for stability and a slim vertical black stem that supports an adjustable brushed brass arm. The arm allows directional control of the light source. The conical shade is made of cream-colored enameled metal with a reflective interior that diffuses light evenly. A handle in ivory-colored bakelite enables manual adjustment of the arm without transferring heat. The materials include marble, brass, enameled metal, and bakelite, commonly used in Italian lighting design of the period. Designed and manufactured in Milan, it reflects the technical and material experimentation typical of the Italian lighting industry during the mid-20th century. The lamp can be placed in various residential or professional interiors.
Stilux was an Italian lighting manufacturer based in Milan, active primarily during the 1950s and 1960s. The company is known for its collaborations with designers who explored new forms and materials in postwar industrial design. Stilux produced a wide range of lighting objects including floor lamps, table lamps, and ceiling fixtures, often combining metal, glass, marble, and bakelite. Its designs reflect the period's emphasis on function, modularity, and efficient production methods. Stilux played a key role in the development of modern Italian lighting and contributed to the international recognition of Milan as a design center.
