Sculptural Cedar Steps, Japan, 1920s

$855
Description

A set of two-tier antique steps, made in Japan a century ago. The robust flared shape grants them a plinth-like quality which would befit use as a plant stand. An object of simple beauty, made by hand.

The steps are stable and nicely worn. There are some visible splits in the cedar which do not affect usage.

Béton Brut

Béton Brut presents rare, design-led furniture from Europe and Japan. The collection, drawn from over a century of design, coheres around functional art & sculptural forms. Béton Brut comes from the concrete finish used in modernist architecture. It is rational yet organic, just like the collection.
