Broadway Chair by Gaetano Pesce from TBWA/Chiat/Day, 1994

$9,500
Description

Gaetano Pesce’s Broadway Chair, produced by Bernini in 1993, was among the original furnishings used throughout the TBWA/Chiat/Day New York headquarters in 1994. This particular example was part of the functioning office environment — used daily by staff and showing unique traces of that history, including a welded screw likely added on site as a repair. Supported by four spring-mounted, rubber-capped feet and cast in resin, the chair embodies Pesce’s fascination with instability and imperfection — “When you sit, you do not feel secure. That is like the reality of life.” The Chiat/Day chairs were saved from the NYC office in 1998 during its demolition and held in private ownership until now. Multiple available.
