Round Dining Table in Wengé with Tripod Legs by Gerard Geytenbeek, 1960s

$6,850
Description

This dining table was designed by Gerard Geytenbeek and produced by AZS Meubelen in the Netherlands in the 1960s. The table has a round wengé veneer top and a solid tripod base. The tabletop is divided into segments that correspond to the direction of the wood grain. The base is constructed with crossed legs that provide structural support and stability.

The table’s circular form allows six to eight people to be seated comfortably, reflecting efficient spatial planning within modern interiors of the period. The design shows a focus on geometric form and material efficiency common in Dutch furniture production during the 1960s. The table was made using standard joinery methods suitable for serial production at AZS Meubelen.

Gerard Geytenbeek was a Dutch furniture designer active during the 1950s and 1960s. He designed for several manufacturers, including AZS Meubelen, and contributed to the development of modern Dutch furniture. His work focused on functional design and clear structural organization. Geytenbeek used materials such as wengé, teak, and oak in his designs. He was part of the postwar movement in the Netherlands that emphasized practicality and industrial production. His furniture was distributed through national and international retailers, and several of his designs remain documented in Dutch design archives and museum collections.
