PIERIDAE 01

$380
Description
Resin, Orange-barred sulphur. One of a kind This work presents two butterflies suspended within a vivid red resin panel. The intense colour of the resin creates a luminous field around the delicate forms of the butterflies, highlighting the warm yellow tones, intricate markings and translucent structure of their wings. As light passes through the resin, the specimens appear to shift between solid and transparent, creating layers of colour, depth and movement. Designed as a sculptural object for the home, the piece can be placed on a coffee table, bookshelf or console, bringing an unexpected moment of colour and natural form into an interior.

Lochlan Sutherland

Lochlan Sutherland (Rholtsu) is an Australian artist working with preserved natural specimens, resin and metal to create unique sculptural works. Based in Melbourne, Lochlan’s practice explores the relationship between nature, preservation and contemporary materials. Each piece carefully incorporates real specimens within resin, allowing their delicate forms, textures and colours to be suspended and preserved in time. The interaction between light and resin is central to the work, revealing layers, shadows and intricate details within each piece. His works sit between natural history and contemporary sculpture, transforming fragile specimens into enduring objects.
