Resin, butterfly specimem. ‘A Softening Of Flight’ explores the delicate relationship between preservation, light and natural form. A collection of butterfly specimens is suspended within a hand cast resin panel, creating layers of depth, shadow and transparency. The muted tones of the specimens are enhanced by the resin, allowing their intricate patterns and fragile structures to remain visible from different angles. Light passing through the work reveals new details within the layers, creating a changing composition as the surrounding light shifts. The butterflies appear suspended between states, captured in a moment of movement while becoming part of a permanent sculptural form.
