Afra & Tobia Scarpa Katia Floor Lamp Flos, Italy, 1974
- Description
-
Formidable husband and wife team Tobia and Afra Scarpa met while studying architecture at the University luav di Venezia in the 1950s. Their distinctive oeuvre, produced over half a century, imbues generous forms with a fine Italian sensibility. Their work is displayed in the Louvre and New York’s MoMA.
The painted metal frame of this sought-after floor lamp is sheathed in cloth for ultimate diffusion. The fabric is gathered at the top and cascades down to a wider base, producing a pleasing sense of movement. Illumination is provided by three bulbs.
The lamp is operated by a foot switch and was recently rewired and PAT tested to UK standards. The fabric shade has been newly remade in linen. Pair available

Béton Brut
Béton Brut presents rare, design-led furniture from Europe and Japan. The collection, drawn from over a century of design, coheres around functional art & sculptural forms. Béton Brut comes from the concrete finish used in modernist architecture. It is rational yet organic, just like the collection.
