Wolfgang Hoffmann Coffee Table Howell Furniture, USA, 1930s
- Description
-
Wolfgang Hoffmann (1900 – 1969), son of Josef Hoffman. Began working for the Howell Co in the 1930s, a company, of which he eventually became a resident designer. This coffee table combines tubular and flat steel, functional sculpture at it’s best. The clear glass top allows the design to be viewed from all angles. This iconic design makes this coffee table arguably one of his most iconic designs from the mid-1930s.
The chromed metal base shows signs of oxidation and has some scratches, this gives the metal a lovely golden hue. The glass top is in good condition.

Béton Brut
Béton Brut presents rare, design-led furniture from Europe and Japan. The collection, drawn from over a century of design, coheres around functional art & sculptural forms. Béton Brut comes from the concrete finish used in modernist architecture. It is rational yet organic, just like the collection.
