This mask hails from the Kerrien tribe of Liberia and featuring six prominent protrusions—referred to as “eyes”—which symbolically reflect heightened wisdom, spiritual awareness, and protective ancestral energy. The elongated oval form, central ridge, and symmetrical composition reflect a visual language tied to ritual and reverence. Traditionally used in spiritual ceremonies, masks like this served as conduits between the physical and ancestral realms, offering guidance and safeguarding communities. This piece comes mounted on a newly made custom iron stand for a modern display—yet can also be detached and mounted on a wall for a more traditional presentation. One of one.
