This antique mask hails from the Fang tribe of Gabon and dates back to the 1970s. Hand-carved from wood, this mask bears an extra-elongated face, making it a rarer form of Fang artistry. Traditionally used in ancestral ceremonies, Fang masks are known for their serene expressions, symbolic symmetry, and spiritual significance—often invoking protection, reverence, and connection to lineage. This piece comes mounted on a newly made custom iron stand for a modern display—yet can also be detached and mounted on a wall for a more traditional presentation. One of one.
