A pair of satinised glass and nickel-plated table lamps by Luigi Caccia Dominioni. The compact silhouette sits somewhere between globe and mushroom in spirit, though the designer clearly had the latter in mind given the ‘Porcino’ moniker. A transparent band at the base of each shade gives the illusion of suspension.
Milanese architect, furniture designer and centenarian Dominioni (1913–2016) won the prestigious Compasso d’Oro award several times and proved instrumental in rebuilding Milan after the Second World War. He first made a name for himself in the design world through collaboration with brothers Livio and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, with whom he developed a series of cutting-edge radios. In 1947 he co-founded studio and manufacturer Azucena with Ignazio Gardella and Corrado Corradi Dell’Acqua.
In good vintage condition, with a small chip to one shade some light scratching to the glass.

Béton Brut
Béton Brut presents rare, design-led furniture from Europe and Japan. The collection, drawn from over a century of design, coheres around functional art & sculptural forms. Béton Brut comes from the concrete finish used in modernist architecture. It is rational yet organic, just like the collection.
