Mario Bellini Pair 'Area' Table Lamps, Italy, 1974

£3,700
Description

Approaching the form of a flower in bloom with his signature architectural rigour, Mario Bellini’s Area design is held in the permanent collection of The Museum of Modern Art in New York. The undulating line of the shade is supported by the scalloped groove of the porcelain base, which has a lightly textured surface. In this spirit the bulb becomes the central pistil of a flower. Milanese architect Mario Bellini (b.1935) is one of our greatest living designers. His instinct for creating monumental pieces of design with distinctive architectural character has won him eight Compasso d’Oro awards and the Gold Medal for Lifetime Achievement by the Triennale di Milano. Recently rewired and PAT tested to UK standards.

Béton Brut

Béton Brut presents rare, design-led furniture from Europe and Japan. The collection, drawn from over a century of design, coheres around functional art & sculptural forms. Béton Brut comes from the concrete finish used in modernist architecture. It is rational yet organic, just like the collection.
