Geneva-born architect Pierre Jeanneret (b.1896–1967) is best known for his decades-long collaboration with Le Corbusier, particularly their work on the city of Chandigarh in India. Designed around 1960, this pair of “showroom” armchairs, model no. PJ-SI-49-A, was possibly produced for the Tagore Theatre at Punjab University, Chandigarh. Constructed with leather and teak, the relationship between seat, leg and armrest casts a balanced composition. Carefully aligned, the proportions hold in equilibrium, characterised by its X-shaped structure. E. Touchaleaume, G. Moreau, ""Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, L'aventure indienne"", Éd. Gourcuff Gradenigo, 2010, modèle similaire p. 569" Galerie Patrick Seguin, Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret: Chandigarh, India, Paris, 2014, pp. 190-91, 284 Recently restored, in great vintage condition.

Béton Brut
Béton Brut presents rare, design-led furniture from Europe and Japan. The collection, drawn from over a century of design, coheres around functional art & sculptural forms. Béton Brut comes from the concrete finish used in modernist architecture. It is rational yet organic, just like the collection.
