Abstracta System by Poul Cadovius for Royal System/Abstracta, 1960s

$550
Description

An icon of minimalist structuralism, the Abstracta system was designed by the visionary Danish architect Poul Cadovius in the early 1960s. This square coffee table is a perfect expression of the "Cube in a Tube" concept—a modular design so significant it was added to the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) Permanent Collection in 1970. Its elegant, thin-profile frame utilizes a patented connector system to create a floating aesthetic that remains one of the most recognizable examples of Mid-Century Modern utility.

The Abstracta system was the first of its kind to allow for quick modular construction; it won the Gold Medal in Brussels for International Design and remains a benchmark for "minimal construction" in furniture history.

Very good vintage condition. The structural frame is solid, and the original connectors are intact. The glass top is well-preserved with no major chips or deep scratches.
