CHUGAI TOEN is a ceramics and porcelain craft manufacturer located in Seto City, Aichi Prefecture, founded in 1952. They specialize in auspicious ornaments such as zodiac figurines, beckoning cats, Hina dolls, May dolls, wind chimes, and mosquito repellents, as well as seasonal pottery. While many manufacturers outsource product design, they have created a system in which they carry out all their work in-house, allowing them to bring high-quality items to the world.
This is a specially made item in the popular "Seto style" style by Chugai Touen, based on the "CHUGAI TOEN style" Maneki Neko (beckoning cat) made in the Meiji and Taisho eras, characterized by its slender cat figure. The maneki-neko with its right hand raised is said to bring "good luck" and "financial fortune." It is recommended as an accent for your room, as a lucky charm interior that brings good fortune. It is also a perfect gift for someone special.
