The A45 Sofa is a piece developed as a part of a constructive exploration on PTR (Square section steel tubing). The construction was born from the simple act of rotating a 1” PTR in a 45° angle and articulating a rational approach to a chair through the degrees of freedom afforded by the angled disposition of the tubing. The piece utilizes only 4 materials for the build, PTR, stainless steel plaques, upholstered seat and backrest and aluminum rivets, which can then be powdercoat painted.

Parafernalia
Parafernalia is a total design studio based between Monterrey and CDMX, formed by Sebastián Zorrilla and Genki Matsumura, which has been formally operating since 2021. The formation of the project was driven by a mutual interest in exploring and analyzing cultural contexts through material discourses that offer critical perspectives, executed in a conscious manner. The practice they have developed has been a process of learning, getting in touch as much as possible with the processes involved in creating an object, and the factors that make it such, as well as the processes involved in the development of an idea. Knowing not only the production limitations of a particular material but also the systems that govern it, the predetermined units and dimensions already commercially available, and even knowing the physical and chemical limitations of a specific material and how these can be used to your advantage. Their work lies in the reconsideration of scales, in order to subsequently try to articulate within the degrees of freedom that this affords.
