Kwok Hoï Chan Kaïdo Chair Steiner, France, 1968
- Description
-
The Kaïdo lounge chair designed by Hong Kong born Kwok Hoï Chan is inspired from a fictional alphabet borrowed from Chinese calligraphy. Hoï Chan emigrated to Europe where in France he paired up with the Parisian manufacturer Steiner, whom he designed the Kaïdo series with.
The Kaïdo is a very rare design, with this pair of lounge chairs being no exception. The set has soft and sensual forms flowing through the structures, with the lower back support of the chair making for exceptionally comfortable lounging.
Recently reupholstered in a cream alpaca and long pile mohair by Pierre Frey.

Béton Brut presents rare, design-led furniture from Europe and Japan. The collection, drawn from over a century of design, coheres around functional art & sculptural forms. Béton Brut comes from the concrete finish used in modernist architecture. It is rational yet organic, just like the collection.
