Description

Introducing our Drone Aluminium Chair with vegetable-tanned leather seats. Designed in 2022 by artist Jakub Kubica and produced in-house at his atelier near Berlin in a limited collection. The chair's 6 mm thick aluminium edges have been thoughtfully smoothed to be soft to the touch without sacrificing its minimalist aesthetic. The chair is relatively compact in size and acts as a functional, sculptural, collectible object in any space. 


The whole leather hide is carefully hand-picked for the "Drone" chair. The leather is vegetable-tanned in Tuscany (Italy), and the calf leather is dyed through, treated with a wax finish, and tumbled for softness. The tumbling process may vary in color and texture. The leather has a very organic and unique look and is used only in high-end luxury products due to its timeless look and beautiful aging.

Jakub Kubica is a Berlin-based multidisciplinary artist, born in Slovakia, who specialises in using natural materials such as stone combined with sterile metals. One of the key intersections in Kubica's work is the blend between art and design, particularly evident in his furniture pieces. Kubica's artistic practice is marked by an overarching theme of rediscovery, which draws parallels with the fieldwork of an archaeologist and leads Kubica towards new perspectives on the ever-expansive present. Through his art, Kubica explores the fragility of our environment and the potential loss of it with a series called "Please do not hesitate to contact me", which was exhibited during Berlin Art Week at Wilhelm Halle as one of the 2021 Berlin Masters finalists.
