Cesare Lacca Mirrored Coffee Table, Italy, 1950

$2,805
Description

Poised on four graceful flared legs with an arrow-like detail, this ebonised wood coffee table bears a disc of coloured mirrored glass set just below the rim. Lacca produced several elegant glass table designs, but few with a mirrored top.

Italian architect Cesare Lacca was a pivotal player in introducing new and exciting modernist shapes to the somewhat conservative Italian tastes of the time. The details of his life remain a mystery, though keen collectors feel his innovative body of work speaks for itself.

The glass has recently been replaced and the wood finish restored

Béton Brut

Béton Brut presents rare, design-led furniture from Europe and Japan. The collection, drawn from over a century of design, coheres around functional art & sculptural forms. Béton Brut comes from the concrete finish used in modernist architecture. It is rational yet organic, just like the collection.
