This chair encompasses two road bicycles in total, using the front triangles of both bikes. As no two bicycles obtained were the same size, the challenge was to make the arms level and the crossbars parallel. This meant the steel tubing brazed onto the frames to create legs all had to be different lengths. When looking closely at the head and seat tubes, it’s clear they are varying in sizes. The open tubes were then covered with circular steel caps that were cut to size and silver soldered onto the frame for a seamless finish.
The leather for the seat is chestnut dyed veg-tanned saddle skirting. The leather was bought second-hand in Dublin, but was originally sourced in Aarhus, Denmark. The leather is a nod to the leather seen on bicycle saddles.
