BORING CACTUS®
- Description
-
After decades spent looking for the extraordinary, what is the most unexpected thing Gufram can do? Making a boring piece, of course! BORING CACTUS® has entered Gufram’s family on a cold, monotonous office day. The brilliance of Drocco and Mello’s original creation now transforms into a grey hue with a matte finish: instead of continuing the search for the most groundbreaking and otherworldly creations, Gufram embraces dullness and repetitiveness - for once! A radical attempt to turn boredom into the brand's typical liveliness.
Added to Gufram's collection in an unlimited edition, BORING CACTUS® can easily fit in every environment. It is easy to picture it in an eclectic home, but also in a minimalist one. In other words, this new edition of the CACTUS® shows once again the extraordinary adaptability of this piece, now functional coat rack, now superb sculpture.
The Gufram CACTUS®: a towering testament to Italian Radical Design. Originally envisioned by its designers Guido Drocco & Franco Mello as a whimsical take on a coat rack, this 1972 creation has since rooted itself as one of the most iconic pieces in the annals of Gufram's history. It stands as tall as a human, its unmistakable silhouette revolutionizing domestic landscapes and creative interiors globally.
Each CACTUS® is cleverly cast from flexible polyurethane with the same mold design used since its inception. It boasts four cantilever arms and 2165 nodes, and is meticulously finished and painted by hand in Gufram's signature Guflac paint. This coating gives the CACTUS® its resilient yet flexible skin, able to withstand years of use without losing its charm.
