Glass Studio Deshimaru: A glass studio founded by Tsutomu Deshimaru in 2011 to seek new possibilities for Satsuma Kiriko and create works that are based on tradition but not bound by conventional frameworks. Kiriko craftsmen continue to create new values in Kiriko by incorporating the techniques of Roka Junsei.
The traditional beauty of Satsuma: A blissful cup of amber-hued sake.
This sake cup fully showcases the techniques of the traditional craft of Satsuma Kiriko, meticulously crafted by skilled glass artisans using their years of experience and delicate handwork.
The octagonal basket weave features a 16-color chrysanthemum pattern, symbolizing wishes for good fortune and eternal youth. The finish is a subdued, rich amber color inspired by BEAMS JAPAN's key color, ""daidai.""
Originating in the Satsuma domain at the end of the Edo period, Satsuma Kiriko was produced for only a little over 20 years, and was dubbed the ""phantom Kiriko."" It has since been revived in modern times. Its beauty and historical background continue to fascinate many, and this exquisite piece allows you to fully appreciate Satsuma Kiriko.
