Roland Wilhelmsson Ågesta Dining Table Karl Andersson & Söner, Sweden, 1970s
- Description
-
Roland Wilhelmsson (1928–2017) was a Swedish furniture designer that underpinned his work in pine with an almost brutalist geometry. He studied at University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm, going on to work for titans of Swedish manufacturing like Nordiska Kompaniet.
This circular dining table has a characteristic sturdiness, thanks to a criss-cross frame that supports the deep top. It’s a design that draws on considerable joinery heritage and takes pleasure in the execution. Natural knotting contrasts with the pale wood.
The table has been gently refinished in a cooler tone. There is some light age-related wear.

Béton Brut
Béton Brut presents rare, design-led furniture from Europe and Japan. The collection, drawn from over a century of design, coheres around functional art & sculptural forms. Béton Brut comes from the concrete finish used in modernist architecture. It is rational yet organic, just like the collection.
