This cabinet was produced in France in the late 1940s to 1950s, a period marked by functional thinking, material economy, and durable construction. Furniture from this era often balanced practical use with restrained design, reflecting post-war ideals of efficiency and adaptability.
The cabinet is made of stained beech and features fixed open shelves combined with removable wooden drawers, several of which are mounted on original wooden wheels. Dovetail joints at the sides point to careful craftsmanship, while the modular layout allows the piece to be used in various contexts.
The surface shows a deep, even patina with visible traces of use, underscoring its age and history. Originally conceived as a utilitarian storage piece, the cabinet remains well suited for contemporary use as shelving, storage, or display furniture.
Condition: This cabinet shows clear signs of age and use consistent with its period. The slats display scratches and a few very small holes. The set of four drawers functions properly; one drawer has damage to the front, and another has an old repair that makes its front slightly larger than the others. All wheels on the drawers are in tact and function smoothly. The cabinet is in overall functional condition with evident age-related wear.
We have consciously chosen to photograph all of our items in their current state to present the real original condition as completely as possible for transparency towards our clients.
In case you have any additional questions about the original condition, always feel free to reach out and ask us for additional images. We do also offer services such as restoration and re-upholstery in case this is wished.
