Cantilever Tubular Lounge Chair with Sisal Webbing, The Netherlands, 1950s

$2,200
Description

This tubular metal lounge chair features a sisal seating and backrest, creating a unique design where the seat hangs freely within the frame. The chair’s construction resembles the work of Bas van Pelt, a Dutch designer known for his furniture designs throughout the 1900's. The tubular steel frame offers stability while allowing the seat to be suspended, providing a flexible seating experience. The sisal material used for the seating and backrest ensures durability while contributing to a natural aesthetic. The design of the chair prioritizes comfort, offering a relaxing seating experience due to its ergonomic construction. Its simple yet functional design aligns with the modernist principles of Bauhaus inspired furniture dating back to the 1930s.

Condition: The sisal seating and backrest of the chair are in tact and show signs of age and use mostly through discoloration caused by the metal structure. The tubular frame shows signs of use as well with some missing chips to the metallic paint finish.
