Clematis armandii Reliquary

$22,000
Description
The Clematis armandii Reliquary is a sculptural credenza comprising four cast aluminium botanical reliefs housed within a fabricated aluminium structure. The reliefs preserve the delicate forms of Clematis armandii in metal, translating ephemeral plant matter into a permanent record. Conceived as an architectural framework for the cast herbariums, the structure brings together sculpture, ornament and functional design. Drawing on the traditions of herbariums and reliquaries, the work explores preservation, transformation and the relationship between nature and permanence. Each cast relief is unique, forming part of a limited edition of two works plus one artist's proof.
