One of a series of six rare bronzes, titled the California Bronzes, that were produced by British sculptor William Pye (b.1938) during his tenure as visiting Professor in Sculpture at California State University. Each kinetic work responded to geological features of California’s desert landscape, which had made a deep impression on the artist. They were shown at the Morgan Thomas Gallery in Santa Monica shortly after their completion. Pye’s focus later shifted to monumental public works, making pieces of this scale a rare find. The piece is signed and numbered ‘William Pye 76 California IV 2/3′ to the base. It is in excellent vintage condition, with no scratches or dents. Béton Brut
Béton Brut presents rare, design-led furniture from Europe and Japan. The collection, drawn from over a century of design, coheres around functional art & sculptural forms. Béton Brut comes from the concrete finish used in modernist architecture. It is rational yet organic, just like the collection.
