A bronze finial sits atop an acrylic pedestal, resting on a wooden base with antiqued wood. Borrowing from the restrained order of ancient Greek architecture, Greek artist Liana Vassalou (b. 1948) imbues this piece with a poetic minimalism.
Plinth-like in stature — reminiscent of a Doric column — it consciously references classical forms but in a playful fashion — placing bronze mechanical pipework in place of perhaps a vase or urn, in the tradition of objet trouvé. Signed at the base with date and surname.
The sculpture features one chip on its acrylic pedestal.

Béton Brut
Béton Brut presents rare, design-led furniture from Europe and Japan. The collection, drawn from over a century of design, coheres around functional art & sculptural forms. Béton Brut comes from the concrete finish used in modernist architecture. It is rational yet organic, just like the collection.
