Walnut Vanity with Triptych Mirror and Glass Top by Louis Sognot, 1932
- Description
-
This elegant vanity by Louis Sognot showcases a refined balance of functionality and Art Deco sophistication. The design, now beautifully finished in black lacquer, features a thoughtfully updated structure with a fixed side compartment integrated above a spacious drawer, flanked by three additional drawers for practical storage. At its center, an adjustable triptych mirror incorporates indirect lighting rails, complemented by sliding panels that neatly retract beneath the partition to reveal an aluminum-backed finish on the reverse. The carefully inset glass slab tabletop extends subtly beyond the frame, enhancing the piece's depth and dimension. Originally crafted from walnut, the vanity has since been expertly restored and refinished in black lacquer, thoughtfully enhancing its contemporary appeal while preserving Louis Sognot's original design integrity. This unique blend of original craftsmanship and sensitive restoration is authenticated by period documentation bearing the official stamp of the artist.
