This is a set of 10 lacquered maple armless dining chairs in the Art Deco style, initially designed by Finnish architect Eliel Saarinen in 1929 for his home at the Cranbrook Academy of Art. This particular set was manufactured by Charles Phipps & Sons in Lexington, Michigan circa 1980s under license from Cranbrook Academy of Art and Saarinen Family Estate. The listed price includes the set of 10.
The lacquered wood shows minimal wear, and the ebonized inlaid wood is intact. There are some scuffs on the legs, and there is some wear to the upholstery. Overall, these chairs are in good condition with light wear. Please see photos.
