OBJ-01 Tray
- Description
-
Inspired by Japan’s long standing traditions of serving tea and the ceremonies that surround it, OBJ-01 is a minimal tray intended for use as a serving platter or display object.
Milled from a single piece of aluminum, the tray’s inner and outer edges remain visually sharp. The tray sits on two feet, raising it just enough to allow ones fingers to comfortably slide underneath the tray and lift from the bottom. Additionally, the raised edges offer an ergonomic hold for fingers while moving the tray from surface to surface.
Sold individually.
Finish: Hand brushed and waxed.
Notes: The wax finish hardens for a durable top coat, however it can be worn through if cleaned improperly: to clean, rinse with water and buff dry with a clean cloth, do not scrub with an abrasive sponge, do not use a stripping soap. Aluminum is a soft metal, the surfaces will scratch over time. This patina adds to the items character.
Each tray is made to order, lead time: 2-3 weeks

studio orlando pippig
Orlando Pippig is a self taught furniture / object designer currently based in Southern California. For the last 8 years, he’s been designing and fabricating high end furniture, centered around solid wood and metal. In 2020 he opened his own studio. His personal designs are rooted in visual simplicity that’s driven by form, with a strong focus on highlighting specific materials. Drawing inspiration from many sources; nature, sculpture, industrial environments, architecture, he finds ways to mesh these separate sources into singular expressions. His work is influenced by systematic iteration, working individual concepts into multiple designs to create a linear progression. The design process favors an engineering approach, the goal of fully understanding connection methods and how to best implement. These thinking patterns result in furniture that holds superior strength and a genuine form.
