Libra Wall Lamp

$3,500
Description

The Libra Wall Lamp is a minimalist lamp by the São Paulo-based designer, Pedro Ávila. Part of the Satellite collection, a series of lighting and furniture that explores contrast through material pairings, the Libra Wall Lamp reflects Ávila’s ongoing interest in materiality and duality.

Inspired by celestial instruments and the organic architecture of Oscar Niemeyer, whose designs left a lasting impression on Ávila during his upbringing in Brasília, the Libra Wall Lamp nods to a bygone era, while remaining distinctly modern and rooted in the present. A triangular stainless steel base anchors this piece while its light is softly diffused through a sheet of parchment paper, secured by a simple, metal scroll. When lit, the lamp emits a warm glow, subtly casting the shadow of the outer steel structure.

This juxtaposition of cold, industrial metal and delicate, natural paper embodies the core tension Ávila explores in Satellite. By pairing these opposing materials, he creates a dialogue between two contrasting materialities, highlighting the duality between the cool precision of technology and the warmth of human touch.
