Fresno, CA by John Hultberg, 1946

$3,000
Description

"Fresno, CA"--a  dream-like painting from 1946 by John Hultberg (oil on board) of billboards and a water tower. This painting is early work, but Hultberg's showing signature, John Hultberg, 1946, and title.

Hultberg (1922-2005) was an American Ab-Ex adjacent painter whose work mined the abstract forms present in man-made environments, toying with representation and landscape in uncanny pictorial spaces. This painting is early work, but Hultberg's coy, oblique approach to abstraction is already evident.
