Erosion Cabinet

$5,500
Description

The cabinet door is made entirely from redwood scrap that would otherwise be discarded. The deep, textured wood grain is achieved by meticulously grinding the softer wood with an abrasive pad before dyeing it with black lacquer. The pull is cast in the earth to complement the door’s rough, textural styling. All components are housed within a wall-mounted, bead-blasted aluminum casing.

Nicholas Bijan Pourfard

Nicholas Bijan Pourfard is a Southern California-based furniture designer and luthier, known for his innovative and sculptural approach to design. After crafting over 400 bespoke guitars under the label “Prisma Guitars”, Nicholas transitioned from the art of luthiery to the world of furniture design, driven by a desire to create functional works of art that reflect his personal identity and creative vision without limitations. Nicholas’s design philosophy is centered around the exploration of materials, movement, and form. He draws inspiration from the relationships between these elements, seeking to transform them into pieces that are as visually striking as they are functional. Each design is carefully crafted to evoke both beauty and purpose, while pushing the boundaries of contemporary design. With a keen eye for detail and a passion for craftsmanship, Nicholas’s work blends traditional techniques with modern sensibilities. His furniture designs reflect a deep respect for materiality and a commitment to creating objects that enhance both the aesthetic and functional experience of a space. Through his work, he continues to challenge the conventions of design, striving to create pieces that tell a story and elevate the everyday.
