Amanita
Amanita was founded in 2021 with the primary mission of supporting and exhibiting artists at various stages of their careers. Since inception, we have mounted over two dozen exhibitions between our former temporary exhibition space in Florence and gallery spaces New York as well as in non-permanent spaces in Milan, St. Moritz, Miami, and Los Angeles. Our New York gallery features 3,500 square feet of exhibition space in the location formerly home to CBGB, the historic punk-rock nightclub. Situated on the Bowery in Manhattan’s East Village neighborhood, the gallery’s museum-quality finishes combined with the still-permeating energies of CBGB make for a singular viewing experience. The layout of the gallery lends itself to various formats and possibilities for our exhibitions. Amanita New York also includes studios for artists to work in-situ, providing two studio spaces in the gallery’s basement. At the beginning of 2025, we expanded with a second New York gallery at 1 Freeman Alley, a historic 19th-century carriage house reimagined by Rafael Viñoly in 2007. Just down the street from our Bowery location, this intimate venue broadens our programming, providing space for sculpture, installation, performance, and smaller-scale exhibitions. Our programming extends outside of New York. Our close relationship with Fondazione Iris in Bassano in Teverina offers artists the possibility to work in a historic palazzo that was once the atelier of Cy Twombly. This enigmatic land in central Italy is a perfect place for artists to isolate and work in peaceful solitude. In October 2025, we will be inaugurating a third location in Rome, Italy. The gallery’s artist first approach allows us to provide ample opportunities for artists both in the preparation, realization, and exhibition of their artistic output. The gallery is operated by its founders, Caio Twombly, Tommaso Rositani Suckert, Jacob Hyman, and Garrett Goldsmith as well as its international team.
