Description: The L.E.D KARTN Chairs are a 2026 furniture collaboration between Heron Preston’s L.E.D. Studio and designer Rishi Assar that transform reclaimed New York City Department of Transportation road signs into functional seating as a statement on urban spatial scarcity and repurposing city materials.

Crafted to fold and adapt as a chair, step stool, nightstand, or table. The aluminum signs and hinges are precision-cut using an OMAX abrasive waterjet cutting system and assembled by hand using solid rivets and an air/hydraulic riveter.

Heron Preston is a New York-based designer, DJ, and creative director guided by authenticity, curiosity, and the principle of less but better. His work joins real-world utility with cultural tension to make things that adapt, endure, and simply work. Through his namesake brand, he pursues an alternative kind of luxury: objects that are human, defiant, and built to last. He studied design and management at Parsons School of Design in New York and Paris, graduating in 2007. Rishi Assar is a design engineer whose practice articulates ideas through objects, environments, and systems. Rooted in the belief that humans are one with nature, his work questions the role of the designer and the lifecycle of what we make through material exploration and adaptive reuse.
