Brown Umbo Side Table by Kay Leroy Ruggles, 1970s

The Umbo shelving system was designed by Kay Leroy Ruggles and produced by Directional in 1970. The system is made entirely of ABS plastic and comprised of multiple modular pieces that can be reconfigured.

Umbo shelves are rare and increasingly difficult to source. They were only produced for 3 years due to the oil crisis of the 70s, which made ABS plastic expensive to manufacture.
