Acrylic, oil, and marble dust on canvas
Archer Defterios (b.2000) is a Greek-American artist based in Los Angeles, CA. His paintings explore the balance between color, light, and texture. Using acrylics, oils, and even fire as his primary mediums, Defterios blends and subtracts dense layers of paint from the surface of his compositions, embracing a practice led by curiosity, repetition, and routine. Self-taught in painting, he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Design from the University of Southern California Roski School of Art & Design. In June 2025, Defterios’ debut solo exhibition, Under Marble, presented a body of work emphasizing materiality and process, informed by the textures and landscapes of Greece.
