Angelo Bragalini Large Vase in Copper, Italy, 1950s
- Description
-
Italian artist and designer Angelo Bragalini (1913–1994), best recognised for his talents as a sculptor, was also a technically skilled metalsmith. Set pieces for filmmaker Federico Fellini and gold work for the Vatican were quietly fabricated in his Bologna workshop.
With its elegant straight neck and ovoid body, this rare oversized Bragalini vase is distinctly urn-like. The burnished copper surface is wrapped in figurative motifs of Roman chariot racers and horses, while four sword-like elements emerge from the flared base.
In good vintage condition, with beautifully rich patination.
