STUDIO.HAOS

Sophie Gelinet and Cédric Gepner never had any formal training in furniture design. Chance, instinct and a desire to work together led the couple to create a first lamp, which eventually formed the basis for a first collection, and in turn led to the creation of Studio HAOS in 2017. Convinced that the beauty of design holds greater power in modesty, Studio HAOS has since been after that particular form of elegance that lies in the ability to express or evoke emotions with restraint and with purposely limited means. Originally from Paris, the duo moved to Lisbon to establish a large scale workshop where design, prototyping and pro- duction happen side-by-side. There, they experiment with new ways to elevate humble materials in the construction of considered objects and structures, carving a singular path away both from mechanized mass production and opulent craftsmanship. Listed by Architectural Digest among the 100 most influential creatives since 2020, Studio HAOS is represented by galleries in Paris, New York, Miami, London and Antwerp.
