Nicole.van.vuuren

Nicole van Vuuren is just a girl, exploring fashion through mundane interactions between body and cloth, entity and boundary, finish and unfinish establishing a relationship via the space in between. Creating an aesthetic which favours the imperfect, unfinished, broken or unloved. Through relationships with other New Zealand based designers, and the Auckland City Mission, offcuts, remnant and scrap fabrics are collected from the community, carefully curated and re-contextualised as new garments, minimising textile waste within the fashion industry. Each piece is unique, made exclusively by hand in her Tamaki Makaurau studio.
