Michelle Jane Lee

Michelle Jane Lee’s art is an ecstatic exaltation of color and a compelling performance of high-risk sincerity. Unapologetically emotional despite a minimalist aesthetic and conceptual methodology, Lee is dedicated to celebrating sensitivity and the personal narrative while embracing a process-based approach towards abstraction, Lee’s work proves conceptualism and emotion need not be mutually exclusive. Lee spent her childhood in Seoul, Korea, lived in Chicago and studied at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Lee participated in the Yale University School of Art: Norfolk residency and has shown in cities across the US including Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City as well as internationally in Berlin, Copenhagen, Seoul, Hong Kong, Taipei and beyond. She currently lives and works in LA.
