So Myeong Lee
Somyeong Lee is a Seoul-based furniture designer and artist whose practice explores connection and accumulation embedded in materials and forms. Drawing inspiration from ancient traces and structures found in nature, she combines woodworking techniques such as steam bending with contemporary methods and materials. Through the repetition, accumulation, and entanglement of fragile individual elements, Lee creates sculptural furniture and objects. Her work explores how separate entities form relationships, support one another, and come together to create a larger whole. Moving between functional furniture and sculptural objects, her practice examines the boundaries between functionality, materiality, and symbolic form. In 2026, she was selected as a finalist for the LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize.
