Christopher "Flore" Florentino
Christopher "Flore" Florentino is a contemporary artist whose practice exists at the intersection of painting, architecture, collectible design, and culture. For more than two decades, he has developed a distinctive visual language that has evolved from the vibrant energy of New York street culture into a refined body of modern abstraction, establishing himself as an artist equally inspired by the canvas, the objects we collect, and the spaces we inhabit. Born and raised in Brooklyn, Florentino's early work was shaped by the visual language of graffiti, music, and the architectural rhythm of New York City. His celebrated Urban Cubist series drew inspiration from artists such as Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring, while his ongoing Modernist series reflects a lifelong admiration for Mid-Century Modern design and the New York School painters— including Cy Twombly, Willem de Kooning, and Joan Mitchell. Through expressive gesture, disciplined composition, and a philosophy of "beauty through subtraction," his paintings seek to create emotional resonance while allowing space for the viewer's own interpretation. While best known for his paintings, Florentino's creative practice has always extended beyond the canvas. A lifelong collector of furniture, lighting, architecture, and design objects, he approaches every discipline through the same artistic lens. Whether composing a painting, curating an interior, restoring an architectural home, or assembling a collection of rare design pieces, each decision reflects the same belief: that every object has meaning, every composition tells a story, and exceptional design is created through intention rather than excess. This multidisciplinary perspective has led Florentino to create immersive environments where contemporary art, architecture, and collectible design exist in constant dialogue. Florentino's work has been exhibited internationally, including the Venice Biennale, with works held in notable private, corporate, and hospitality collections. His artistic journey has taken him from live painting inside the Nakamura Keith Haring Museum collection in Japan to collaborations with leading galleries and collectors around the world. Today, Florentino continues to blur the boundaries between fine art, design, and living. As his practice evolves, he is expanding beyond painting into a broader creative ecosystem that includes interiors, collectible design, editions, and thoughtfully curated objects. Rather than viewing these as separate pursuits, he sees them as different expressions of one evolving artistic vision— composing not only paintings, but an entire world around them.
