The inspiration for Ggiata comes from childhood friends Noah Holton-Raphael, Max Bahramipour, and Jack Biebel, who grew up eating authentic Italian-style deli sandwiches in their hometown of Montclair, NJ. The deli was always an anchor in the community, a central meeting point for any occasion that called for friends and family to gather. Ggiata aims to be just that—a fixture in the LA community, providing exceptional food and hospitality to our neighborhood and beyond.

Artist and designer, Brian Thoreen shares his radical relationship with materials and materiality by playfully blurring the lines between functional and nonfunctional work. Born in California in 1979, Brian Thoreen grew up in construction, metal fabrication and art installation. These experiences informed a peculiar and intimate understanding of space and material interactions. Currently working between Mexico City and Paris, his practice balances the precarious tensions between simplicity and sophistication, discourse and form, materiality and impressive evocations. Rubber, wax, paper, silicone, hammered copper, brass or bronze - Brian Thoreen questions the very integrity of the materials he chooses to explore in order to bend them to his powerful vision. Challenging the idea of harmony as a beauty norm constitutes the center of his questioning as an artist. By flirting with the sensual as well as with the objectionable, Brian Thoreen celebrates the strangeness within the familiar, leaving his viewers with an evocative yet indelible sense of awe and uncanniness. He is one of the founding partners of the Mexico City gallery MASA and the experimental glass studio Vissio. His works have been exhibited and sold throughout the world in art and design galleries alike.

Laffanour | Galerie Downtown specializes in 20th century European and American masters of design – most of them architects. Since its opening in the early 1980s, the gallery has been organizing thematic and monographic exhibitions on designers such as Jean Prouvé, Charlotte Perriand, Pierre Jeanneret, Le Corbusier and Jean Royère. Shortly after the Second World War, this generation of designers brought a new concept to the Art of furnishing, dictated by a need for freedom and functionality: a new 'Art de vivre' in a time of technological and scientific advances. The gallery also showcases works by Isamu Noguchi, Serge Mouille, José Zanine Caldas, Luis Barragàn and is representing such contemporary designers as Ron Arad and Choi Byung Hoon in France.

James de Wulf is an American artist and designer whose practice unfolds at the intersection of collectible furniture, sculpture, and exhibition design. For over two decades, he has worked with concrete, stone, steel, and other materials, combining craftsmanship with a sensitivity shaped by experimentation and cross-cultural inspiration. In his hands, materials are poetically pushed beyond their assumed limits. Their properties are extended, their nature reimagined, and allowed to speak differently. And just like that, aluminum—neat, minimalist—becomes musical in a resonant ping-pong table, where each movement produces sound, and play becomes performance. Concrete, heavy and inert, is animated by organic patterns reminiscent of branches, roots, and animal exoskeletons. Stone, traditionally defined by weight and permanence, is reinterpreted as pliable, capable of conveying the fleeting, delicate lightness of flowers. Across his work, monolithic sculptures and brutalist geometries seem suspended in time, hovering between echoes of ancient civilisations and Sci-Fi imagination. “It all began with a visit to a concrete factory, and later the discovery of the work of Italian architect Angelo Mangiarotti,” de Wulf reflects. “Watching concrete move from liquid matter to architectural presence unlocked my fascination with design.” Transition lies at the core of his creative language. “My work always starts with materials. In some ways, I feel part alchemist, part maker,” he says. Quoting French chemist Antoine de Lavoisier—Nothing is created, everything transforms—de Wulf frames his work as an exploration of flux. “Matter and essence are in constant motion. With my pieces, I seek to capture the quiet poetry of transformation: the subtle shifts occurring between atoms, and those extending far beyond them.” Aluminum steel becomes sound, concrete appears alive, minerality turns ephemeral. James de Wulf has presented his collectible designs at leading international platforms including Design Miami, Salon New York, and Paris Art Week. His practice reflects the curiosity of an explorer. Having lived in Los Angeles, Berlin, Copenhagen, Malmö, and Koh Samui, he is now based in Maui, Hawaii, while continuing to travel in search of new perspectives. “Every new project,” he says, “is an exciting journey.”
